I'm a designer with a passion for learning.
Hi! Nice to meet you! I'm Laura Cruickshanks (pronounced /kro͝ok-SHaNGks/).
I found my dream job at Salesforce almost seven years ago. I am a designer on the demo team. That means I help create prototypes that tell a story about Salesforce products used by our customers at large executive events. We are responsible for the keynote experience at Salesforce's biggest event of the year – Dreamforce. Our team is known for creating visionary stories and bringing them to life in the form of live demos. We are the A-Team, our executives depend on us.
On this team it's not all about demos. I've worked on a variety of projects from team shoes to an isometric wayfinding app. We are motivated by creating experiences that connect with the audience and communicate our story in a compelling way.
I wear multiple hats. In addition to design, I've acted on stage for multiple demos on the World Tour and Dreamforce. I've spoken at two breakout sessions at Dreamforce 2017 (Session 1 and Session 2). I also have experience driving the demos on tour and at Dreamforce (Admin Keynote Demo).
For increasing internal team bonding, I regularly organize fun Volunteer Time Off (VTO) events and explorer series where I've taught fellow team members how to use Photoshop and other tools.
If this is a dream job, why would I be interested in leaving? As much as I enjoy the variety in my everyday work, I want to focus on product. I'd like to be able to learn more about process and design decisions made when working on product that gets shipped.
There's so much more to talk about, but I think it'll be more fun to do this over coffee or on the phone. Please reach out and let's chat!
